THE UNITED NATIONS 2030 AGENDA: DATA TO MEASURE THE LEVEL OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC IMPACTS PUBLISHED IN THE “TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION - THE” UNIVERSITY IMPACT RANKINGS. SANT’ANNA SCHOOL IN THE WORLD’S TOP 300
A new world university ranking aims to measure the higher education institutions’ pioneering initiatives in delivering the 2030 United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 goals, including inclusive and equitable quality education, gender equality and innovation, were adopted by the 193 Member States in the UN in September 2015 and provide a framework for sustainable development by 2030.
The Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings new league table 2019, released today, ranks the world’s top universities based on the goals of the UN “2030 Agenda”. Sant’Anna School is in the global top 300, as well as being ranked first in Italy, in 2019, it was ranked third in the world’s best small universities ranking, with less than 5,000 students (the average number of students at a small institution is approximately 3,258).
The THE University Impact Rankings performance table rates Sant’Anna School across 15 calibrated indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons. In particular, the ranking included two of the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”: ranked 21st globally, on the challenges such as innovation, technology transfer and collaboration with industry.
- SDG 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”: ranked 80th globally, for innovation and knowledge generation through research and education, policies and actions to support justice through the provision of appropriately educated graduates and the implementation of the anti-corruption strategy at local and national level.
